The RIWATCH Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage (RCICH) successfully organised a two-day Book Distribution and Intangible Cultural Heritage Awareness Programme at Government Higher Secondary School, Hayuliang, and Government Secondary School, Walong, in Anjaw district. The initiative sought to inspire the younger generation to understand, appreciate, and safeguard the rich indigenous traditions of Arunachal Pradesh.

More than 200 students participated in the initiative, which included the distribution of RIWATCH’s publications, donation of books to school libraries, documentary screenings, and interactive sessions highlighting the importance of preserving the state’s living traditions and indigenous knowledge systems.

During the outreach, RIWATCH distributed copies of its publications, Traditional Houses of Eastern Arunachal Pradesh: Faiths and Beliefs and Values and Social Bonds in Eastern Arunachal Pradesh, to students, teachers, and school staff. Additional copies were presented to the school libraries to encourage reading and deepen students’ understanding of the region’s diverse traditions and way of life.

The programme was led by Hari Apralo, Research Assistant at RIWATCH, who spoke on the importance of safeguarding Arunachal Pradesh’s intangible cultural heritage and concluded with a vote of thanks by Miju Mena, Research Associate at RIWATCH, who expressed gratitude to the teachers, students, and school authorities for their active participation and cooperation. He reaffirmed RIWATCH’s commitment to working closely with educational institutions and local communities to document, preserve, and promote the rich intangible cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh, ensuring that the state’s cultural legacy continues to inspire future generations.
