RIWATCH is organizing an International Conference titled “Interpreting Cultures and Traditions: Shifting the Lens.” The conference is being organized in association with Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Arunachal Pradesh; the International Centre for Cultural Studies (ICCS), Bharat; the Indigenous Faith & Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP); and Arunachal Pradesh University (APU), Pasighat, to bring together scholars, researchers, and practitioners to explore how cultures and traditions are understood through changing perspectives. The conference focuses on inclusive and community-rooted approaches to studying traditions, highlighting the dynamic nature of rituals, ecological knowledge, food systems, textiles, storytelling, and performative arts. It aims to encourage dialogue on how cultural practices continue to evolve in contemporary social, political, and technological contexts.
This academic gathering also provides a platform to examine indigenous knowledge systems, analyze cultural transmissions, and discuss comparative perspectives from Northeast India and neighbouring regions. Through interdisciplinary sessions, paper presentations, and plenary discussions, the conference seeks to deepen understanding of the relevance of cultural traditions in today’s world.
Venue : The conference will take place from 19th to 21st December 2025 at: Khinjili Village, Roing, Lower Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh – 792110 (India).
