The RIWATCH Centre for Mother Languages (RCML) released a bilingual publication titled Singpho Folksongs during the 41st Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi celebrations in Lohit district. The book was released by Hon’ble Urban Development Minister Shri Balo Raja in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chowna Mein, MLA Shri Jekke Tako, and other dignitaries.
Compiled by Dr Vilhousienuo Neli, Singpho Folksongs documents traditional Singpho folk compositions, presented in the original Singpho language with English translations. The publication is a significant step toward preserving the oral and poetic traditions of the Singpho community for future generations.
RIWATCH Executive Director Shri Vijay Swami highlighted the importance of mother languages in safeguarding cultural identity and stressed the need to integrate indigenous knowledge systems into academic frameworks. The dignitaries commended RIWATCH for its continued efforts in linguistic research, documentation, and cultural preservation.
