The Chairman of the Research Institute of World’s Ancient Traditions, Cultures and Heritage (RIWATCH), Shri Joram Begi, along with the Director, Shri Vijay Swami, meet the Hon’ble Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. General (Retd.) K. T. Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, at Raj Bhavan.
During the meeting, the RIWATCH delegation briefed the Hon’ble Governor on the institute’s ongoing initiatives in the fields of indigenous knowledge documentation, cultural heritage preservation, mother language conservation, research, education, and community development. The discussion also focused on RIWATCH’s long-term vision of expanding its scope into a multidisciplinary institution with broader national and international engagement.
A key aspect of the interaction was the proposed vision of transforming RIWATCH into UWATCH (University of World’s Ancient Traditions, Cultures and Heritage). The proposal seeks to establish a dedicated university that will promote higher education, research, innovation, and global collaboration in the study of ancient traditions, indigenous knowledge systems, and cultural heritage.
The Hon’ble Governor appreciated RIWATCH’s sustained efforts towards preserving Arunachal Pradesh’s rich cultural legacy and acknowledged the institute’s contributions to research, education, and community outreach. He also expressed his support for initiatives that strengthen cultural documentation, indigenous knowledge, and academic excellence for the benefit of future generations.
The meeting marked an important step towards advancing RIWATCH’s vision of becoming a globally recognised centre of excellence dedicated to the preservation, research, and promotion of the world’s ancient traditions and cultural heritage.
