Promoting the Adi Language, Preserving Cultural Heritage on 23 July 2026 at GSS Parbuk in Lower Dibang Valley district

The RIWATCH Centre for Mother Languages (RCML), in collaboration with the Adi Baane Kebang (ABK), Adi Cultural and Literary Society (ACLS), and Government Secondary School, Parbuk, organised a one-day outreach programme on 23 July 2026 to promote and revitalise the Adi language at GSS Parbuk, Lower Dibang Valley.

The programme highlighted the vital role of mother languages in preserving cultural identity, traditional knowledge, and indigenous heritage. Through inspiring addresses, interactive discussions, and Adi-language extempore speech competitions, students and community elders came together to celebrate and strengthen their linguistic and cultural roots.

A documentary produced by RIWATCH’s Documentation Centre, showcasing Adi folktales, folk songs, dances, rituals, festivals, and material culture, further enriched the event and inspired participants to take pride in their heritage.

With the enthusiastic participation of over 200 students, teachers, community leaders, senior citizens, and representatives of local organisations, the programme reaffirmed the collective commitment to ensuring that the Adi language continues to thrive for generations to come.

At RIWATCH, we believe that preserving our mother languages is essential to safeguarding the wisdom, identity, and cultural heritage of our communities.
