RCE East Arunachal gets UNU-IAS Award

ITANAGAR, Mar 12:Regional Center of Education (RCE) in Sustainable Development East Arunachal Pradesh hosted by RIWATCH Roing, was recognized by United Nations University - Institute of Advanced  Studies (UNU-IAS) and adjudged as best RCE among Asia Pacific countries. The award was given during its 8th RCE conference held at Cebu and Bohol, Philippines in 05-08 March 2015. Total 200 delegates from South East Pacific Region attended the program.

RCE coordinator and RIWATCH representative Malo Linggi presented a case study on "how to take environment education to the schools and through schools to the community" and impact achieved in Lower Dibang Valley. The case study included how the students identify the challenges, producing better solutions and thus becoming role models at global scenario.

RCE Chubu, Japan, RCE Penang, Malesia and RCE East Arunachal Pradesh topped from among the 21 case studies presented.

Malo Linggi gives credit to RIWATCH and its team for promoting thoughtful community initiatives and assisting Arunachalees to go on global platform.  RCE East Arunachal Pradesh hosted by RIWATCH was established in December 2011 by involving different stake holders including different schools, IG College Tezu, and voluntary organisations working in respective field. There are more than 250 RCEs in 120 countries recognised by UNU-IAS.

In India, Center for Environment Education (CEE) is one of main participating agency of the RCE works of UNU-IAS.
